The Future of The Arts and Entertainment Industry

Ebony 100 Directory Services' Black Boston Awards Ceremony is pleased to announce that our main speaker will be a former Bostonian and Metco student. Lita T. Rosario, Esq.

Principal of WYZ Girl Entertainment Consulting a boutique entertainment and intellectual property law and consulting firm in Washington DC. She was elected as Chair of the DC Bar’s Entertainment, Media and Sports Law Section (2012-2013). She served on the Grammy Board of Governors for the Middle Eastern District (DC/MD/VA/WVA) and the BOD for the Hip Hop Caucus Education Fund. She is admitted to the Bars in New York, Massachusetts and the District of Columbia, the Southern District of New York, the District Court for the District of Columbia and most recently the Supreme Court.

Rosario was successful in securing the ownership rights for Afrika Bambaataa and Soul Sonic Force for arguably the most sampled song in Hip Hop --- “Planet Rock,” and all songs that sampled Planet Rock! Rosario is currently representing members of Parliament Funkadelic, including Garry Shider (Diaper Man) and George Clinton, in matters to regain ownership of their catalogs including the iconic hits records “Atomic Dog,” and “ One Nation Under A Grove” and the estate of a founder of KC and the Sunshine Band here in Florida.


Rosario is a co-founder and owner of University Music Entertainment a production company that produced multi-platinum recording artist DRU Hill, Mya and ultimately Sisqo. Rosario went on to represent such artists as Missy Elliott and is responsible for Missy owning her copyrights, --- Crystal Waters, Tank and Robin S. She has secured back royalties for many artists and songwriters including, Peaches & Herb & Mr. Cheeks (Lost Boyz).


She has consulted in the Laruen Hill litigation and the Zapp and Sean Levert Estate matters. Rosario has represented clients in songwriter and author disputes for mega hit records as “Who let the Dogs Out,” “Blame it on the Alcohol,” “Suit & Tie” and “Thong Song.” Securing ownership rights for her clients in all cases.


Rosario has lobbied Congress on artist rights issues including the Music Modernization Act and is an outspoken advocate for artist rights! Rosario began her career as a corporate/securities law attorney at Gaston Snow & Ely Bartlett in Boston and then Shearman & Sterling in New York. Rosario is a graduate of Howard University.
